Mother of God (MH-MG-002)

Mother of God (MH-MG-002)

This design is in honor of Mary the Mother of God. The characters on the front are in Rus and come from a Russian icon dating back to somewhere between the 17th - 19th century titled Image of the Unburnt Thornbush Most Holy Mother of God. The characters specifically used in this design come from the end of the title and mean Most Holy Mother of God (hence the design title).

The "blades" above the characters on the front represent the seven sorrows of Mary.

I placed a picture of the source icon here. It's beautiful so I hope you give it a look.
